Office Administrator/Event Coordinator

The Office Administrator/Event Coordinator (OA/EC) is responsible for general office administration and secretarial support, including: maintenance and organization of the day-to-day workings of the MtS office and as well as liaison with funding organizations and other departments and faculties across campus. The OA/EC will also organize meetings, events and conferences for MtS, including note taking and secretarial support for advisory bodies and committees. The position will work with the Managing Director, Scientifc and Implementation Directors, and the Chair of the Board of Directors to coordinate and plan these meetings, as well as other staff as required.

With a relevant degree and professional designation, you have led HR in a large, complex, multi-union
organization, with proven experience developing and applying progressive HR practices and programs to support organizational effectiveness. You will work with your team, peers and leaders across all
campuses to develop and implement strategies, policies and priorities that support the University’s
mission while enhancing the organizational culture. You have a track record of building and managing
strong working relationships with colleagues, internal clients and team members, along with the ability
to build and motivate your team to advance employee engagement. This is an opportunity to develop a

Labour Relations

The AVP, Labour Relations (AVPLR) is a new position. Reporting to the Vice-President, Equity, People &
Culture (also a new role), the AVPLR will be part of a dedicated team supporting the York community
and building a positive organizational culture. The AVPLR will work collaboratively with all University
leaders to develop and implement progressive labour relations strategies and policies, and will build
productive working relationships with York’s 7 unions and 14 bargaining units. The AVPLR will be
responsible for Academic and Staff Labour Relations, including collective bargaining, collective
agreement administration, grievance resolution, training and labour relations support and advice.
