WIRELINE FIELD OPERATOR

Weatherford Canada is currently hiring a Full Time Open Hole Wireline Operator for our services based in Lloydminster, SK.

Our Wireline Operators are responsible for maintaining and operating various components of the Wireline Services equipment. Working under the direct supervision of the Field Supervisor, Operators will assist in safely carrying out rig-in/rig-out procedures, accurate data collection, reporting and performing general duties as assigned.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Driving Wireline unit to and from various job locations

Servicing of various down-hole tools and auxiliary equipment

Cleaning and maintenance of Wireline units, shop vehicles and shop

Rig up and rig out of all related Wireline Cased Hole or Open Hole equipment

This position is shift work with 24 hours on call and scheduled days off.  Individual must be willing and able to travel with Wireline crew and must work well individually and in a team environment

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

High School Diploma or GED

Class 3 operators license with clean abstract; class 5 with industry experience will be considered

Good mechanial aptitude

Good understanding of basic mathematics and understanding of basic principles of electricity

Excellent communicatation skills in the English Language, both verbal & written

Any valid industry standard tickets are a definite asset

Successful completion of drug and physical testing

Must be available to work on call 24 hours a day while on shift

Positive attitude and the ability to interact and perform successfully within a team environment

Safety minded individual, full participation and commitment to receiving both required and ongoing mandatory safety training as a condition of employment

SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Responsible for the servicing of oilfield equipment including dismantling, repairing, assembling, and other duties assigned by your supervisor. Work is outdoors and can be physically demanding and in all types of weather conditions

Required travel to well site locations and assists in servicing/ troubleshooting performance problems associated with the product line of the service department

Ability to work independently with no or minimal supervision and ability to deal with customers as required relating to servicing of equipment

To be willing to work on any of the oilfield equipment

Safe operations of Weatherford company vehicles in compliance with:

– External customer requirements

– Government regulations ( Department of Transportation’s standards)

Prior Pumping Units experience or oilfield experience an asset

WIRELINE FIELD ENGINEER

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position of Field Engineer/Supervisor is physically and mentally challenging, and is a very rewarding and respected job in the oil and gas industry. As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for:

The operation and management of a mobile wireline field unit and crew;

The operation of a proprietary surface computer system to collect, QC, and analyze complex geological, geophysical, and mechanical readings from sub-surface well logging tools. The quality and accuracy of these logs are crucial as the oil company makes major production decisions from them;

Providing reliable, prompt, and courteous service to Weatherford’s customers on a 24-hour basis;

Isolating and solving complex problems on the job site with the assistance of our technical support groups;

Personal career development through external and internal technical and non-technical training;

You will be required to work in a field setting for extended hours.

The initial training period for this position is approximately six months.  You will spend eight weeks in our Ft. Worth, Texas training facility where you will be taught all the technical skills necessary to become a successful Junior Field Engineer/Supervisor.  The remainder of your training will be spent under the direct supervision of an experienced Field Engineer/Supervisor who will help you develop your skills in the field until you are proficient to work on your own.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

BS in Engineering / Geology / Earth Sciences/Geo Sciences or applicable Wireline experience

College Certificate in Engineering

Mechanical interest and inclination

Understanding of fundamental math, physics and electricity

Basic computer skills

Clean driver’s abstract

Positive attitude and the ability to interact and perform successfully within a team environment

Excellent communicatation skills in the English Language, both verbal & written

Available 24/7 with scheduled days off

The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations

Willingness to work under varying conditions and in remote locations

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Objective:

The person fulfilling this role will be required to support the development and implementation of Weatherford Gas Lift Systems products and services by assisting staff and customers with product design, installation and performance evaluation of gas lift systems. Customers include personnel at both WFT locations and end user customers. The incumbent is also expected to provide technical expertise according to specified application or activity as a means of enhancing company profits and maintaining the market share of the business.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assistance to Operating Company production engineers and technologists in the development and implementation of gas lift systems.
  • Use of relevant well data along with appropriate software and other tools to evaluate and determine the best technical solution to produce the well based on the customers production on operational objectives.
  • Works with clients to troubleshoot problem wells, sharing information and developing strategies for corrective action and future product implementation to enhance product and well performance.
  • Assistance with the installation and operation of the product when needed.
  • Works with the Research and Development (R&D) team to develop and test new product based on industry and client requirements.
  • Monitor and track new product performance and customer feedback, relaying findings to the R&D team.
  • Develop and prepare, schools/training pertaining to gas lift in order to educate internal personnel and clients; as well as designing product information and training videos.
  • Provide technical support for WFT field locations; aid sales representatives with questions and concerns related to deliveries, product availability, quality and other customer related questions.
  • Support and mentor, from a technical perspective, WFT employees as required
  • Review product performance in the marketplace to enhance product needs and requirements.
  • Work with and support all divisions of Weatherford to enhance market opportunity as well as liaising on regular basis with peripheral technical support teams to share information and apply knowledge.
  • Maintain and build relationships with internal and external customers, in order to promote Weatherford’s business.
  • Support company goals and objectives and continual process and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Act as an ambassador for Weatherford interests at related oilfield functions during interactions with customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduated from a post-secondary institution with a Petroleum Industry related degree or diploma.

  • Strong understanding of the oil industry and knowledge of Weatherford base of oilfield products and services
  • Valid Class 5 operators license
  • Solid base of computer skills. Capable of working with nodal design software and industry leading inhouse software related to technical applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss problems and negotiate mutual agreements with customers, manufacturers, distributors and other Weatherford employees.
