Research Coordinator – Technician
– Ensures smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities and provides update and progress reports to members of the research team and stakeholders. – Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, and orientation of staff in qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. – Assigns and directs work of research support staff, ensuring deadlines are met and research protocol and regulatory requirements of the U of M and funding agencies are followed. – Recruits and obtains consent from participants. – Collects data for research projects, including, but not limited to, conducting open-ended individual interviews, focus group interviews, participant observation, administering questionnaires, and collecting additional information from selected records. – Monitors the progress of research activities. Develops and maintains records of research activities, preparing periodic and ad hoc reports as required. – Contributes to research analysis, including interpretation and preparation of proposals; may conduct literature searching and reviewing. – Organizes and participates in meetings. – Prepares and processes all forms and accounts related to the grant, including monitoring expenditures. – Prepares documents for ethical review and assists with preparation of reports and publications and develops materials for presentations of projects/research. – Maintains data files in accordance with ethical guidelines.
MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING: – Completion of a Masters degree in a health-related field is required, preferably in Nursing. EXPERIENCE: – Must have experience with all phases of carrying out a research project, including both qualitative and quantitative health research. – Must have experience conducting individual open-ended interviews, writing field notes, observing participant and focus group interviews. – Must have experience drafting technical reports, brief non-technical reports of communities, academic publications and presentations, and other written documents. – Familiarity with confidentiality and security issues related to research is essential. – Must have experience using NVIVO, statistical and other computer software related to word processing and data management, including Microsoft Office, SPSS and Mendeley. – Must have experience with literature searches and retrieval and with writing grants. – An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Evaluation Research Assistant – Technician
– Conducts data analysis, including analyzing qualitative content for themes. – Conducts research activities, including preparing surveys for use in the field. – Conducts interviews, focus groups, and consultations, under the direction of a project’s lead. – Assists with literature reviews, report writing. – Presents research findings to WRHA, Province of Manitoba and/or University of Manitoba staff. – Works closely with the project sponsor(s), project lead, and project team(s) to develop a Project Charter and Workplan, and to facilitate timely execution and ongoing maintenance of project timelines, milestones and deliverables. – Creates and maintains the project workplan and proactively manages issues, changes to scope, etc. to ensure project objectives are achieved. – Coordinates project team meetings and ensures appropriate documentation is maintained to capture project progress and potential challenges. – Identifies potential risks and determines appropriate mitigation strategies to resolve and/or escalate as required. – Conducts regular meetings with project team to facilitate two-way communication of information, issues and challenges. – Develops necessary forms of communication media, including Status Reports, bulletins, newsletters, educational resources, etc. to support the success of the project.Performs in a manner that reflects the values and standards of the partners of the Centre for Healthcare Innovation. – Coordinates the required regulatory submissions & approvals for the conduct of the study – Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
