Android Developer
Objectives and your responsibilities
- Create a video editor that rivals the best apps around
- Set the foundation to implement advanced features such as AR/VR, filters, stickers and more in the future
- Design and implement it from prototype to final product together with the UX/Design team
- Integrate this into our React Native app together with the Frontend team
Must have skills and experiences
- Developed production quality Android application using Kotlin / Java
- Been part of building applications with video/photo editing capabilities
- Experience with GraphQL
- Experience with TypeScript
- Knowledge of Android standards in UX / UI, trends, and emerging technologies
- Curiosity and a desire to learn new things
Nice to have
- Hands on experience with React / React Native is a big plus, but don’t worry we’re here to bring it to the next level together
- Experience with writing C/C++ cross platform development
- Tried and tested video editing capabilities on the native platform
- Experience with real-time video filters & video processing or ARCore
- Actively participating in architectural choices and decisions

Backend Developer
You’ll be doing things like
- Design, build and maintain well-tested and performant production level Go code for APIs & services
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
- Working with a team of passionate developers in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Participate in aspects of the R&D process, from experimenting with new ideas to exploring new techniques
You’ll need to have experience with
- Development of web and/or mobile REST or GraphQL APIs
- Debugging and profiling server applications (even those you haven’t built yourself)
- Working with Go or a strong desire to learn it
- SQL and NoSQL style databases
It’d be amazing if you
- Enjoy and have experience building GraphQL APIs

Caching Platform
Requirements for the role:
- Good programming instincts – especially with Ruby or Go – but other languages work
- Ability to be resourceful and independently learn new languages, software, frameworks and APIs
- Experience debugging and maintaining distributed systems
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- An understanding of what it’s like to build an app from ground-up, to bridge the gap between an app and the system that runs it
- Familiarity with commercial PaaS systems, such as Heroku
- Experience with scaling system architecture and knowledge of orchestration tools such as Mesos or Kubernetes
- Experience with continuous delivery processes with an emphasis on automation
Relevant experience for the role:
- Familiarity with memcached/mc-router and/or redis
- Experience with Ruby and/or Rails
- Experience with C/C++Ability to debug at the Linux system level
- Experience developing monitoring, tooling and alerting at scale, high availability systems
- Professional knowledge of a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience with resiliency and capacity planning of large internet services
Projects you could work on:
- Improving the efficiency of our caching layers
- Rationalizing the usage of multiple libraries across different services
- Building tooling for service owners to be able to run their services independently
Creative Director
You’ll get to work on:
- Leading and inspiring the world’s best creative team of designers, developers, copywriters, and project managers to attract world-class talent
- Shaping the story and creative voice for the Shopify Plus brand
- Directing and stewarding our brand identity to ensure cohesiveness across all customer touch points, including internal communications
- Providing visual creative and conceptual direction for digital, video, email, social media, advertising, experiential, swag, and more
- Collaborating with insights teams to create user test plans and synthesize findings to inform decision making and measure outcomes
- Partnering with teams through the lifecycle of campaigns, events, and other marketing tactics and channels
- Leading the way we build intuitive user experiences across all marketing efforts by putting the customer experience first
- Managing priorities, developing effective processes, and partnering with leaders across all levels
- Building strong relationships and communicating with leadership across the company

- You have 8+ years of experience as a creative leader at top-tier design-driven companies
- You understand and care about the big picture as much as the smallest pixel
- You’ve built and led large (25+ people) multidisciplinary teams, including design, copywriting, project management, and leadership
- You have experience partnering with agencies to get world-class results
- You lead from the front, with a vision and strategy for the future that delivers today
- Your teams consistently ship high-impact work that balances beautiful design with attention to detail
- You have experience using data and research to inform decision making and measure outcomes
- You’re a leader first, and a design leader second.
- You are a forerunner in the design community, building thought leadership inside your organization and beyond
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that persuade and inspire others
