Senior Thermal Lead
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Thermal Lead to join our dynamic Thermal Power team Mississauga. Though based in Mississauga, the role will support global projects and BU activities.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage assigned studies including interfacing and reporting to clients, monitoring and managing budget and schedules for specialized upfront power studies;
- Provide leadership and mentorship on specialized technical design and deliverable requirements for various forms of Thermal Power generation and cogeneration.
- Provide support to other regions in the development and delivery of project requirements within the Power BU and requisite client engagements;
- Lead and support Thermal Power business development efforts and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, pursuit plans and origination;
- Through project delivery and involvement in industry activities / associations / committees / etc, develop and maintain client relations.
Qualifications
- Mechanical (preferred) or Chemical engineering degree from a recognized university
- Registered Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive within the thermal power industry in a consulting/engineering environment
- Experience with thermal power systems, such as gas, coal, biomass, liquid fuel, district energy and industrial thermal systems
- Experience and interest in business development including the development and maintenance of client relations;
- Ability to work on global projects within global teams;
- Flexibility for short term overseas business travels
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally);

Full Stack Software Developer
Our Hatch Digital team offers a wide range of technology related services and solutions that support our global Hatch network and our client solutions. In this role, you will be a part of the Systems Development group.

Hatch is seeking a Commissioning Coordinator with experience in metals (steel & aluminum), mining, water treatment or infrastructure.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support development of commissioning proposals and presentations
- Coordinate commissioning group resources globally across project sites and support recruitment
- Lead technology development initiatives in the group including investigating of alternate and supporting commissioning software
- Participate and lead field reviews of existing commissioning projects
- Ensure procedures and standards are up to date, readily accessible and updates are globally communicated to the team
- Take on commissioning lead roles and support development of execution plans including scoping commissioning systems and planning the commissioning sequence.
- Ensure commissioning systems are defined to a level sufficient for a level four schedule.
- Coordinate with the client, project management, and project services in identifying required reporting procedures and formats for client and Hatch management needs.
- Ensure commissioning systems are coordinated with construction work packages, engineering and procurement.
- Develop project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by jobsite conditions. This includes but is not limited to managing the implementation of the permit to work and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedure.
- Review commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts and schedules.
- Review P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, Single Line Diagram, Network Architecture Drawings and engineering registers to prepare an execution plan and estimate to execute pre-commissioning and commissioning services and identify opportunities for project acceleration.
- Liaises with the Project Manager and the project core team of design engineers, procurement, planning and scheduling and other personnel and other personnel as required in setting priorities to ensure timely commissioning performance.
- Develop site organization and staffing requirements required to execute commissioning activities within project schedule and acceptable costs.
- Establish the commissioning requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization.
- Provide commissioning technical support to other site functions as needed.
- Ensure that the Project Manager is informed of commissioning concerns.
- Recommend requirements for commissioning resources and strategies to meet the schedule in each area.
- Participates in the labor studies, manpower sourcing exercise and the establishment of the industrial relations strategy.
- Liases with the Construction and Operational Readiness teams in the planning and setup of systems.
- Lead setup and implementation of the commissioning management system.
Knowledge/Skill/Ability Requirements:
- Demonstrated health and safety management focus in the commissioning phase of project delivery, and extensive knowledge of health and safety management procedures, safe work practices, and applicable legislation.
- Engineering or Technical degree or equivalent.
- Minimum four to six years of previous major project experience
- Strong leadership skills, the ability to lead a team and fit into a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience using Visio or similar tools to communicate commissioning sequence, organizational charts and work flow processes is an asset.
- Effective report writing skills, planning and organizational skills.
- Able to communicate directly with the client on key issues.
- Knowledge of all phases of commissioning operations relating to field activities of all engineering disciplines, commissioning and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques, and applicable codes and standards.
- Familiarity with a wide range of equipment, tools, and technologies used in commissioning.
- Familiarity with a wide range of testing procedures, methodologies, technologies and standards used in commissioning.
- Well-developed business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, leadership and coordination of people and resources.
- A great, completions-oriented attitude.
- Setup experience with a completions management system is an asset
- This role requires some travel to various Hatch offices, project and supplier sites subject to project requirements.
